Rick Perez is a painter based in New York City. Specializing in representational oil painting, his formal art training is from the School of Visual Arts in Manhattan, from which he holds a Fine Arts degree; and from the Art Students League of NY, from which he holds a 4-year Certificate in Painting. He is the winner of the prestigious Gonzalez-Edwards 4-month travel grant to Spain and of the Trudy and Henry Gillette Scholarship for Painting, both from the Art Students League of NY; and of numerous other awards from assorted regional, national and international professional artists' organizations, including a Gold Medal in Painting from the Audubon Artists Association. Perez' primary subjects include the figure and portraiture, but his repertoire also includes still-lifes and landscapes. His work can be found in numerous private and public collections in the US and abroad. He shows at Gallery35 in NYC. He is a member of the Abingdon Square Painters, a group of working NYC artists who share a large artists´ studio in Long Island City. He teaches Drawing and Oil Painting at the venerable Ridgewood Art Institute in Ridgewood, NJ.
